About MediflightMediflight is a National and International 24 hour Airborne Critical Care Service, supported by Medical Officers from multiple hospitals statewide and the Critical Care Nurses of the Central Northern Area Health Service.
The Royal Adelaide Hospital Retrieval Service began operations in 1960's by Dr J. E. (Fred) Gilligan AO providing the first critical care transport service to Adelaide's metropolitan private hospitals. Dr Gilligan pioneered retrieval services internationally and remains a prominent figure in retrieval medicine.
This service has continued to develop, and is now known as RAH Mediflight for national and metropolitan transfers and Mediflight for international missions.
Mediflight is now accredited for training with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine, the Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
